About Beacon Media + Marketing

It started in Alaska in 2001 as Beacon Publishing & Design, a small company built on a simple idea: be the lighthouse for small and mid-sized businesses navigating a stormy world. In 2012, that company merged into Beacon Media + Marketing, the first digital marketing agency in Alaska. The lighthouse name and mission carried through. So did the belief that quality work and real relationships outlast every trend.

Led by Adrienne and Ken

Beacon is led today by Adrienne Wilkerson and Ken Okonek. Adrienne leads from a ranch north of Reno, Nevada, and Ken from a lake house north of Anchorage, Alaska. We have team members across the country and offices in Anchorage, Reno, and Nashville. Our roots are still in Alaska. Our reach is coast to coast.

What We Do

We work exclusively with mental health, behavioral health, and addiction recovery practices. That’s it. Just the practices doing some of the most important work in this country, helping people heal. This focus is intentional. We’ve spent years inside this space, and we know the regulatory edges, the ethical responsibilities, and the language that respects patients instead of selling at them. When you specialize, you go deeper. When you go deeper, you do better work.

Real People. Real Connection

We believe marketing is about connection. Real, human, person-to-person connection. Get that right, and the leads follow. Get it wrong, and no amount of clever tactics will save the campaign. That belief shapes everything we build. The words on a homepage. The way a Google ad shows up at 2 AM for someone searching for help. The tone of an email going out to a parent who’s terrified about their teenager.

People First Is the Lens for Every Decision

We lead with people over profit. It’s our first value, and it’s how we make every call, internally and externally. Relationships, family, and well-being come first. The results follow because we built the foundation right.

Keeping the Human in Marketing in an AI Era

We use AI every day. It’s a powerful tool, and we’d be foolish to ignore it. But we also know what AI can’t do. It can’t sit with a clinic director who’s burned out. It can’t understand why a family chose your treatment center over the one down the road. It can’t carry the weight of someone’s healing journey.

So we let AI handle the repetitive work, and we use the time it gives us to go deeper with the humans we serve. More strategy conversations. More handshakes. More of the heartfelt work that actually moves the needle for our clients and the people they care for.
